Thank you to all the children, teachers and assistant teachers in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 for making me so welcome this week. It was lovely to meet you all and experience your enthusiasm for books in general, and the Giant Jelly Jaws and the Pirates workshops in particular. And happy #WorldBookDay on Thursday!
Today saw the conclusion of a two day workshop in collaboration with Create Space, run by my friend Zoe Thompson… and it was wonderful! The theme Bring a Story to Life was embraced by the children, who used Giant Jelly Jaws and the Pirates as their inspiration for lots of creative activities. They invented new pirate ship characters, designed their own book covers, played some great piratey games and entertained their friends and families with a brilliant musical performance to round it all off. Well done everyone!
If your little ones love pirates, please bring them along to The Book Nook in Hove at 2pm this Saturday (16 Jan) to celebrate the launch of Giant Jelly Jaws and the Pirates. Ben Mantle and I will be reading in our best pirate voices, there’ll be a treasure hunt, piratey crafts… and you might even take home the prize for best pirate costume! Hope to see you there ⚓
A-HARRR-PY NEW YEAR, everyone, from Giant Jelly Jaws and the Pirates, out today! We hope your little pirate-people enjoy it! ⚓️
Many thanks and congratulations to all the team, especially illustrator-extraordinaire Ben Mantle, Judith Brinsford at HarperCollins Children’s Books and Gaia Banks at Sheil Land. Here’s to a wonderful 2016!!
I was delighted to be interviewed by Reading Fairy recently – the early reading experts who make storytime fun. You can read the interview here.
