The Spots and the Dots is out today! When my first four books were published, the Book Nook – our local children’s book shop in Hove – hosted lovely events for all of them. So I’m delighted to say that the tradition continues and the Book Nook is hosting a virtual event today at 4.30pm on their Facebook page. Thank you Book Nook! 🙏🔴🔵
🔴🔵New book coming soon!!🔵🔴
I wrote the first draft of this book, in prose, way back in 2013. So I’m over the moon that The Spots and the Dots – beautifully illustrated by Marion Deuchars – will be bouncing into the world on 1st October, to share their twin stories about overcoming prejudice and making new friends #peace #love
Huge thanks to everyone who has believed in this book over the years, especially Andrew, Jemima and Maddie • Helen TM & Nick C • Mandy Suhr and Miles Stott Children’s Literary Agency • Sue Buswell, Beccy Garrill and the whole Andersen Press team • Marion Deuchars ❤️💙Thank you💙❤️

THANK YOU!
I’ve just seen my latest PLR statement, which shows how many times my books have been borrowed from UK libraries – and it’s really brightened up my January! A huge thank you to readers and librarians everywhere.
My statement shows that last year, for the third year running, Giant Jelly Jaws and the Pirates, illustrated by Ben Mantle, was my most-borrowed book. And the second most-borrowed – also for the third year running – was Dragon v Dinosaur, illustrated by Deborah Allwright.
Authors and illustrators earn a few pence every time their books are borrowed from a library, which is very much appreciated. But it’s also absolutely wonderful to see concrete proof of how many times these stories are read!
Thank you ⚓️💫📚❤️🙏 #lovelibraries #savelibraries
Happy Christmas!

Ahoy Edenbridge!
I was delighted to be asked back to Edenbridge Primary School in Kent this week, to run pirate-themed workshops and share some book love as part of this year’s Book Week. Thank you to all the children and teachers in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 for taking part so enthusiastically, and for creating such imaginative stories and rhymes. Happy World Book Day 2017! ❤️📚
Thank you!
Ahoy America!
St Lawrence School Summer Fete
Both of our girls went to St Lawrence Primary School in Hurstpierpoint, so I was really pleased to be asked to come and read stories at yesterday’s Summer Fete, with its ‘Once Upon a Time’ theme. Thank you to all the children who came to the story tent, and to all the grown-ups who bought books in aid of St Lawrence. Thank you!
